“Stepping Stones to the Forest”
Medium: acrylic paint on canvas
Size: 12” x 12” on 1.5” deep canvas
It’s always an incredibly magical experience hiking through the pristine trails at Lake O’Hara. I’ll never *not* be blown away by the incredible artistry and craftsmanship it took to create these hiking trails and winding stone pathways through the fragile high alpine.
This painting uses a reference photo from the trail at Opabin Plateau, looking down towards Lake O’Hara and Cathedral Mountain. This was an incredibly special camping trip that I was lucky enough to book over my 40th birthday (for 3 nights!). Right before this photo was taken, my son and I made the sad decision that it was too cold to swim in Opabin Lake (we were wearing mitts and toques after all, I suppose…). But right after this photo was taken, you would have witnessed us jumping off the mini dock straight into Lake O’Hara, and then dashing back to the campsite to warm up by the fire.
