Where the Daisies Wander
“Where the Daisies Wander”: original acrylic painting, 12 x 12 inches.
If I had to choose a favourite day on my Tour Mont Blanc journey this past summer, it would probably be the day that we crossed over to Italy from France via the Col de la Seigne. The day before had been our hardest day, over 24km and ~1500m elevation – mostly in a low-hanging mist/rain with blasting winds (which made it freezing, yet incredibly moody and surreal). It was bliss to wake up to clear skies after more clouds/rain had been predicted. I had the most incredible day, hiking up the col with unreal views back into France (with my eyes constantly gazing up at the hiker silhouettes framed in these rapidly rising and mist clouds that would just as rapidly burn off or drift away), crossing the border to Italy and slowly meandering through an endless stunning valley, being greeted by the most incredible wildflowers, glaciers, and being warmly welcomed to Italy with a hearty dish of penne pomodoro for lunch at a cute mid-hike Refugio. Will love to one day relive this day with my kids and husband.
